HIPPY Argentina

The HIPPY program, known in Argentina as “Learning at Home” (Aprendiendo en Casa), has been in place since 2009, under the auspices of AMIA (Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina), a leading Argentinian Jewish civil society organization. Currently operating in 4 sites, at AMIA’s headquarters and in three Child Development Centers located in shanty towns around the City of Buenos Aires, the program serves socially vulnerable families with children aged 3 through 5 whose parents’ educational level is less than 9 years. Some 240 families have participated in the program since it began, and a first group of 48 five year-olds has graduated. At present, HIPPY Argentina’s Learning at Home has 180 participants and 6 home visitors and is funded by AMIA and the Social Development Ministry of the City of Buenos Aires.
