HIPPY Germany

HIPPY Germany started its work in 1991. The program began in two sites and was evaluated by the DJI (Deutsches Jugendinstitut). Today, HIPPY operates in all parts of Germany and has over 30 partners in Germany’s welfare system, supporting 39 locations. Some 1,700 families with children aged between 3-7 years old participate in Germany’s HIPPY program. More than 90% of our families have an immigrant background. The largest participant groups are families of Turkish and Former Soviet Union origin.

In April 2011, HIPPY Germany and Opstapje Germany found the HIPPY-Opstapje Deutschland GmbH with the objective of intensively expanding both programs across Germany. Since 2012, Germany’s HIPPY program operates under the umbrella of IMPULS Deutschland gGmbH – Frühe Bildung in der Familie.
